RTC (Residential Treatment Center)
Cornerstone is licensed and certified by the state of California and nationally accredited by the Joint Commission and is located in sunny Orange County, CA. We have been helping individuals and families find recovery since 1984. We offer a primary drug and alcohol treatment rehabilitation and treatment program for men and women over the age of 18.
We believe that we provide the best clinically experienced staff and programs you will find. How do we know? Our clients tell us every day, and those that have been in other rehab centers say they wish they had come to Cornerstone first.
Our medical director and founder, Michael Stone, MD has been helping addicts and families since 1969. He was the medical director of the first hospital-based alcohol and drug treatment center in Canada in 1969. Dr. Stone and his treatment team trained the first and second medical directors at the Betty Ford Center. Dr. Stone is a board-certified family physician, a diplomate of the American Pain Management Society, and is board certified in addiction medicine.
The Cornerstone Primary Rehab Program
Relapse prevention is the focus of treatment at Cornerstone. What is addiction? Addiction is a complex brain disease characterized by compulsive drug seeking and abuse despite harmful consequences. We treat clients with all drug and alcohol problems. Prescription drugs for pain have become a serious problem for many individuals, Prescription sleeping pills and tranquilizers continue to be popular and usually need inpatient detox.
Detox from stimulants such as prescribed (Adderall, Ritalin) and “street” methamphetamine and cocaine is not as dangerous and is much easier with monitored medical help by a physician.
Our program focuses on relapse prevention treatment. Everyone will have a strategy for their individual triggers when they leave. Our residential program is in a safe, supportive, home-like environment that enhances the recovery process.
The program includes therapeutic groups, lectures, written assignments, individual counseling, family involvement, and “fun in recovery” activities. We also incorporate gym time, yoga, music therapy, and meditation into our program.
The treatment plan is personalized for each client’s specific needs. The continuing care plan is discussed early in treatment because of its importance. We believe in using holistic methods to treat the body, mind, and spirit. Recovery from addiction requires a biological, psychological, social, and spiritual approach.
We belong to L.A. Fitness and, when cleared by the doctor, our clients may go to the gym many times a week. We have other supervised outings, movies, Newport Beach boat rides, miniature golf, bowling, and other fun activities relative to the time of year and weather.
We have separate houses for men and women. Only our detox is co-ed. There are six residents per house. In detox and residential care, we include all meals and snacks and a washer and dryer in each home. We offer 12-Step program involvement and provide transportation to local 12-Step meetings up to five times a week. We include continuing care and aftercare at no extra charge. There is no additional charge for our family programs.
